Owner and driving force behind KLETS, Ken Ledward is an accomplished climber, fell-runner
and skier, and no mean performer in caving and canoeing. A former teacher in mountain based
activities, he has also been a senior Outward Bound instructor in both Britain and East Africa.
In the latter region he established what is possibly the longest standing mountaineering record
- 13 hours and 20 minutes to run from Loitokitok Outward Bound to the summit of Kibo (now Uhuru Peak)
(19,340 feet/5,895 meters), and return. The overall distance is 26 miles/41.8 kilometers, and the
total ascent is close to 26,000 feet/7,925 meters.
The KLETS team are carefully selected for their hands on experience in product manufacturing and
development. Currently we can count on expertise in textile production, coatings and laminates,
leather technology, ergonomic design and product make-up. All are aware that the best in raw
material technology can be negated by poorly developed design criteria.
The success of KLETS is self-evident when one takes heed of the plaudits heaped by peer companies
and groups. The simple combination of pooled skills, tight management control and uncompromising
reporting have given it an enviable reputation.
